The Friend Zone – An Analysis



In the world we live in, guys are chasers and girls are choosers. Most of the time the guy is expected to approach the girl or ask them out on the first date, and almost all the time the man is expected to propose to the woman. This is all well and good; I think both sexes are satisfied with this arrangement. However, because this is the way gender roles have been defined, it has led to the creation of something guys call the “Friend Zone” (FZ).

[INTERLUDE: Girls can totally be FZ’d too, but the reason we don’t see them complaining is because of what I said in the first paragraph: guys initiate relationships way more frequently than girls do, thus we see more rejected guys than we do girls.
