I recently came across information regarding a woman who has made the decision to use MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) to develop her own MBA program so she could continue to work and not go into deeper debt. I think this is a fantastic idea! I’ve thought for the longest time that tradition education (college) wasn’t meant for everyone and that just because someone doesn’t attend or does poorly, it doesn’t mean they are “dumb” or will be unsuccessful. MOOCs simply provide education for a segment of the population that can’t be served through traditional college education but do have a desire to learn. And there are some people that just can’t afford college, financially or time. With MOOC a student gets to go through the material at their own pace and on the own time. Plus, a lot of these courses are available for FREE to go through but if you want a certificate of completion of the course you will need to pay a little bit upfront for it. I’ve decided to do a little bit of documentation/reviews of courses I will be taking in the future. If you would like to learn more about the MBA program via MOOC here is the website, www.nopaymba.com. Also check out www.class-central.com for a listing of courses available on various sites.
