Daily Goodie Box Review: April 2017

Bunches of Crunches Superfood Granola Dark Chocolate Sea Salt with Chia from Bakery on Main

Chocolatey. Salty goodness. These are delicious! I wish I had a bigger sample!

Original Lychee & White Grape detox water drink

Like the product but wasn’t crazy about the flavor; not a fan of grape. I would be interested in trying one of the other flavors offered.

#MPWR Acne Spot Treatment

I love that that this is an organic product. I’ve only had to use it a couple times but it seems to work pretty well.

Eboost Energy Powder (Strawberry Kiwi)

Love this kind of product, don’t love the flavor. I’m not a fan of the Strawberry Kiwi flavor in general and would have preferred a different flavor.

Adamia Therapeautic Repair Lotion

Full size product was included. Not really a smell at all to it. Seems to help keep my dry skin areas from being so rough and dry,

Cherry Slurpee  7-11 Cotton Candy

I’m not a big fan of cotton candy so I only had a taste of this. It definitely tasted a lot like a Cherry Slurpee. My boyfriend’s daughter loved it.

Mighty Nut Powdered Peanut Butter in Vanilla from Peanut Butter & Co

I had never used dry peanut butter before so I was skeptical about how good this would come out. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this tasted! I accidentally added a little too much water and had to add some regular peanut butter to thicken it up. It tasted so rich! It reminded me of the really good peanut butter candy covered in chocolate. Would highly recommend anyone to try this!

Goddess Garden Organics Sunscreen Sample

I like the sunscreen itself but I didn’t like the sample packet. It made it very difficult to just get a little sunscreen out. It’s an organic sunscreen that doesn’t have any bad chemicals in it like other sunscreens. It also has a more pleasant smell than other sunscreens I have used in the past.

Quick DUDE Shower Wipes

A nice sized thick wipe. Smells good and feels good on the skin. I am using mine for the occasional day when I end up skipping my shower to keep me feeling fresh. Would highly recommend including this in care kits for college students and military soldiers.

Daily Goodie Box Review

I was very pleased with samples that were included in my very first Daily Goodie Box. The selection of products sent to me were pretty much the kind of products I have an interest in using/trying out. The only product I wasn’t crazy about was the Slurpee cotton candy (not a fan of it cotton candy at all) but I’m not complaining because I was able to give it to a kid to enjoy. I am definitely hoping I get selected to receive more boxes from this site again! Click here to sign up and have the opportunity to receive your own Daily Goodie Box filled with FREE samples to try out!

I received this Daily Goodie Box filled with product samples for FREE in exchange for reviewing the included products. My opinions are my own.

Stuck in a Rut (and other topics)

Hello! I know I haven’t actually blogged here in a long time. A big reason for that is there just hasn’t been much going on worth talking about (other than crocheting). Over the past few weeks I have found myself in a bit of a rut. Life is going okay but I just have these feeling of being stuck. I still crochet a good bit, I just don’t have much “crojo” (crochet mojo) or excitement for making things with the skill as I used to. Time to evaluate things and make some small changes in my life. I am considering expanding my skill set when it comes to crafting with yarn. Perhaps I will make some projects using Tunisian crochet, or maybe attempt a knit project. Take up a free online course? I already tried that and it didn’t really do any good this time. I’m sure I will figure it out in time.

I didn’t plan on really saying anything about this past election but the way people have been reacting has moved me to want to say something. I am very disappointed in both sides for how they are acting. A lot of people are acting immature. There have been complaints on Facebook about seeing hateful posts from fellow friends which many have found disturbing. Fortunately, I have lucked out with not seeing anything hateful but I have seen a lot of posts from my Facebook friends expressing fear and hurt. It is one thing to be proud when you get your way or to be disappointed when you don’t in a mature manner. All people are doing by not acting or expressing themselves maturely is making themselves (and others similar to them) look really bad. And it just simply bothersome that people are going to the extreme and making fools out of themselves. Plus, these people are setting bad examples for future generations. It’s okay to be proud but don’t rub it in or use as an excuse to be outright mean. It is okay to hate that your choice of candidate didn’t win but it is not okay to whine or be hateful. I am not happy with Trump winning but I am not going around spreading hate for him winning. Am I skeptical? Yes, but at the end of the day it doesn’t change the fact that he is our president-elect so there is no point wasting time whining like a spoiled brat who didn’t get their way. Redirect that energy to something more constructive that can actually cause some change for the better.

The Vampire Diaries (Final Season)

On a more bittersweet note, I would like to talk about the current, and final, season of TVD. I was watching the most recent episode of the show and realized how the phoenix stone tied in with this season (at least how it appears to). Fellow fans may remember that the stone is meant to liberate the vampires who escape it. Stefan was suppose to accept that the best thing for him is to let his brother go and Damon was suppose to embrace his dark side fully. Both of them fought against that last season but it appears that this season’s events are trying to even harder to force them to accept what the phoenix stone tried to tell them they should do. Just something I noticed that I thought was worth mentioning in case it didn’t hit other watchers. Is anyone else a little underwhelmed by the siren storyline? I have not seen Sybil as much of a threat, though she is a bit of a threat with Damon serving her. I was pleased to find out that she actually really isn’t the big villain, but her master is. Even before the most recent episode I already felt like she was just a means to introduce the “big bad” of the season. Or at least that is what I am hoping for.

Crocheting for a Cause: Myself

A long time ago, when I was about 8-9 yrs old, an aunt of mine introduced me to crochet. Since then I have spent time dabbling with it but not doing anything serious with it. Though there is a afghan that has been a work in progress off and on for years stashed in a closet somewhere.

Finally after much time of not doing anything crochet related, I happened across a video for how to make a Hello Kitty beanie (Hello Kitty being my niece’s favorite character) and began my latest crochet adventure. I completed her beanie and even made her a purse, which didn’t come out as good as was hoping but niece still adored it.

I have two projects that are in progress: a pixel baby blanket and a minion for my sister.

I am grateful that I found the Hello Kitty beanie tutorial and for some free yarn (old yarn) I am able to acquire through a connection. Crocheting has provided a lot stress relief for me, some much needed relief for the situation I am in right now. I have even been blessed with a couple people coming to me requesting projects to be made in the future with intentions on paying me! It’s a very exciting time for me despite being unemployed. So until that great day comes when I can be employed, I will continue to crochet a lot. And even after. I will continue to crochet, though the frequency may differ time to time, this craft will always be a part of my life in some form. While it is true money can be made crocheting, this will not be the reason why I will continue to make things. I will do so because crochet has helped me cling on some sanity and given me purpose when I felt directionless and hopeless. I will crochet for myself.

**I have added a new page to my About Kris section: Crochet Projects, where I will post pictures of my projects**
