Product Review: Live Well Compass Matcha Green Tea

I like my morning cup of coffee but my morning coffee doesn’t always like me so I have been looking for some alternatives. I was quite fortunate to have been chosen to receive some Culinary Japanese Green Tea to try out. I was really excited about trying out this product because I had heard/read good things about it in the past but hadn’t gotten around to trying any.

Over that past week I started replacing my usual coffee with a Matcha Green Tea Latte. The recipe for the latte (found on the back of the package) recommends adding 1 teaspoon of the Matcha Green Tea Powder to a small amount of milk, and then use the back of a spoon to form a paste, afterwards you are to add 1 cup of a milk, and lastly sweeten your latte to taste with honey or stevia.

On the first day of trying out a Matcha Green Tea Latte I followed these instructions exactly. Unfortunately, I found that my latte was way too strong! And I wasn’t able to finish the whole cup. A couple days later I decided to try the Matcha Green Tea again. This time I only added half of the powder. This latte was a bit on the weak side but much better than the first one I made. The third time I made a latte I added 3/4 teaspoon of the Matcha Green Tea Powder and the results were the most pleasing.

I’m not really crazy about the flavor, but it isn’t bad. I’m just not used to it. I think the more Matcha Green Tea Lattes I drink, the more I will enjoy the flavor. But did it actually give me energy? Yes! The energy lasted for hours and I also had no jitters. I also didn’t have a crash later like I tend to have on the days I drink coffee.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a coffee alternative. You can order your own Culinary Japanese Matcha Green Tea Powder on Amazon today by clicking here.

Daily Goodie Box Review: April 2017

Bunches of Crunches Superfood Granola Dark Chocolate Sea Salt with Chia from Bakery on Main

Chocolatey. Salty goodness. These are delicious! I wish I had a bigger sample!

Original Lychee & White Grape detox water drink

Like the product but wasn’t crazy about the flavor; not a fan of grape. I would be interested in trying one of the other flavors offered.

#MPWR Acne Spot Treatment

I love that that this is an organic product. I’ve only had to use it a couple times but it seems to work pretty well.

Eboost Energy Powder (Strawberry Kiwi)

Love this kind of product, don’t love the flavor. I’m not a fan of the Strawberry Kiwi flavor in general and would have preferred a different flavor.

Adamia Therapeautic Repair Lotion

Full size product was included. Not really a smell at all to it. Seems to help keep my dry skin areas from being so rough and dry,

Cherry Slurpee  7-11 Cotton Candy

I’m not a big fan of cotton candy so I only had a taste of this. It definitely tasted a lot like a Cherry Slurpee. My boyfriend’s daughter loved it.

Mighty Nut Powdered Peanut Butter in Vanilla from Peanut Butter & Co

I had never used dry peanut butter before so I was skeptical about how good this would come out. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this tasted! I accidentally added a little too much water and had to add some regular peanut butter to thicken it up. It tasted so rich! It reminded me of the really good peanut butter candy covered in chocolate. Would highly recommend anyone to try this!

Goddess Garden Organics Sunscreen Sample

I like the sunscreen itself but I didn’t like the sample packet. It made it very difficult to just get a little sunscreen out. It’s an organic sunscreen that doesn’t have any bad chemicals in it like other sunscreens. It also has a more pleasant smell than other sunscreens I have used in the past.

Quick DUDE Shower Wipes

A nice sized thick wipe. Smells good and feels good on the skin. I am using mine for the occasional day when I end up skipping my shower to keep me feeling fresh. Would highly recommend including this in care kits for college students and military soldiers.

Daily Goodie Box Review

I was very pleased with samples that were included in my very first Daily Goodie Box. The selection of products sent to me were pretty much the kind of products I have an interest in using/trying out. The only product I wasn’t crazy about was the Slurpee cotton candy (not a fan of it cotton candy at all) but I’m not complaining because I was able to give it to a kid to enjoy. I am definitely hoping I get selected to receive more boxes from this site again! Click here to sign up and have the opportunity to receive your own Daily Goodie Box filled with FREE samples to try out!

I received this Daily Goodie Box filled with product samples for FREE in exchange for reviewing the included products. My opinions are my own.

February Freebies: All About That Dove

Product testing is something I am fairly new at but it is something I am enjoying. So far I have been blessed with testing some pretty fantastic complimentary products such as, Aussie Cleanse & Mend Shampoo and Conditioner (courtesy of Influenster) and Scotch-Brite Scrubbing Dish Cloth (courtesy of PinchMe). This past February I lucked out and got to test out two products (for FREE) from the brand Dove courtesy of Influenster and BzzAgent.

Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant: Lavender Fresh

The first complimentary product I was sent to test is Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant in their new scent, Lavender Fresh. I received this free product from Influenster to test and review. When it comes to my underarms, Dove has been the only brand I trust for years. I already use Dove Go Fresh so I was quite excited to be chosen to test this product.

As expected, this product by Dove did not disappoint! If you love the scent of Lavender you will love this antiperspirant. The scent lasts for around 24 hrs and the antiperspirant sweat protection lasts close to 48 hrs. I still prefer my Go Fresh scent (Cool Essentials) but Lavender Fresh is a new favorite scent.

Dove DermaCare Scalp Pure Daily Care 2n1

The second free Dove product I had the pleasure of testing is Dove Pure Daily Care 2n1 Anti-Dandruff shampoo & conditioner. I received this complimentary product from BzzAgent for testing purposes. I was excited about this product test for three reasons: I have suffered from dandruff since I was a teenager, Dove is a brand name I trust, and this was my first BzzCampaign for testing a product!

Unfortunately, this 2n1 shampoo & conditioner didn’t work for me. It didn’t help with dandruff at all and just caused icky product build up! (Gross!) Performance aside, I did actually like the smell of the product; It has this pleasant minty scent. I’m disappointed that this product didn’t work for me but this in no way makes me think negatively about Dove.

Crocheting for a Cause: Myself

A long time ago, when I was about 8-9 yrs old, an aunt of mine introduced me to crochet. Since then I have spent time dabbling with it but not doing anything serious with it. Though there is a afghan that has been a work in progress off and on for years stashed in a closet somewhere.

Finally after much time of not doing anything crochet related, I happened across a video for how to make a Hello Kitty beanie (Hello Kitty being my niece’s favorite character) and began my latest crochet adventure. I completed her beanie and even made her a purse, which didn’t come out as good as was hoping but niece still adored it.

I have two projects that are in progress: a pixel baby blanket and a minion for my sister.

I am grateful that I found the Hello Kitty beanie tutorial and for some free yarn (old yarn) I am able to acquire through a connection. Crocheting has provided a lot stress relief for me, some much needed relief for the situation I am in right now. I have even been blessed with a couple people coming to me requesting projects to be made in the future with intentions on paying me! It’s a very exciting time for me despite being unemployed. So until that great day comes when I can be employed, I will continue to crochet a lot. And even after. I will continue to crochet, though the frequency may differ time to time, this craft will always be a part of my life in some form. While it is true money can be made crocheting, this will not be the reason why I will continue to make things. I will do so because crochet has helped me cling on some sanity and given me purpose when I felt directionless and hopeless. I will crochet for myself.

**I have added a new page to my About Kris section: Crochet Projects, where I will post pictures of my projects**

A Message From Someone Depressed: Just Be There

I recently came across the above video. It really struck a chord with me due to my own personal battle with depression. There, I said it, I am depressed. I have been for quite some time. I don’t know when exactly it happened, probably further back than I can remember. All I know is that I didn’t realize it until a few months after I graduated. My sister has told me that she thinks that I have been for years. True? Honestly, I really don’t know. It is possible. Perhaps it was just a little bit under the surface that I never noticed. But, when or how long I have been depressed is not what this post is meant to be about…

This post is meant for those who know someone who is depressed. I can’t speak entirely for the specific individual you know but I hope that maybe my words will help you be there for this person, if you do wish to be there for them. I just said it, be there. The best thing you can do i simply be there. Also, don’t judge them for it. Be understanding. For the most part, treat them normally. If you try to baby them, you’re likely to just make it worst. At least I know I would if everyone walked on eggshells around me just because I am depressed.

There isn’t anything you really can do that can make a person NOT be depressed. The individual has to be ready. They need to time to go through it for however long they need to. All you can do is let them know that if they want to talk, you will be there and if they don’t, you won’t force them to. Be willing to be the shoulder they lean on, cry on…literally or figuratively. That really is all you can do until the day the finally get sick and tired of being depressed and are willing to take the steps to pull themselves.

I have recently reached the point of being ready to pull myself out this horrible state of mind. What made it so long for me to be able to here was not understanding why. Something I have only recently come to truly realize. Having the knowledge of why has allowed me to know what steps I need to take get through this difficult, frustrating time in my life. I finally have hope, I see the light at the end of this tunnel. This time will pass and someday I will be okay again.

*Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope my message is of use to you. If you so happen to be a person in depression. I’d like to say to you, hang in there, keep going. Have faith that one day you will be out of this.*

New Year, No Excuses

People can’t change. This something we are taught. For the most part, it is very true. Once we reach a certain age we can only change ourselves so much and usually with lots of continuous effort. Also, we need a strong desire to change, to be motivated.

One thing I have learned over the past couple years is that there really isn’t much excuse for working to change yourself. We live in a time that allows us to have access to many resources, some of which are free if you have internet access. There many book written on a large variety of subjects, websites, blogs, and there are MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) that are free to sign up for. So when we feel down about something about our lives, if it can be changed, there really is no excuse other than not being motivated enough to try, to get on the internet and do some research to find advice/answers to how to change whatever it is in your life that you desire to change.

Tomorrow begins a new year, so let’s all start it off on the right control by taking responsibility for our lives and making the effort to change it. Happy New Year’s, everyone!

If you’re interested in taking a MOOC, Here is a website that has a listing of courses available on a variety of websites, There are a variety of courses available.
